Meet Dr. Simone Lomax

Founder of the Labor Room

Hi, I’m Simone – a board certified women’s health nurse practitioner and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP),with over 10 years of hands-on experience working in every area of obstetrics, I’m also a doula trained through DONA International, and a childbirth educator trained through Lamaze International. I completed my doctoral evidence based research study on interventions to decrease the rates of maternal mortality and morbidity among women of color. I’m on a mission to improve maternal health outcomes, improve birth equity and reduce maternal health disparities and traumatic birth experiences.

My clients include women who are trying to conceive, are currently pregnant, or have just given birth. While these women are at different stages of their journey, before seeing us at The Labor Room, they all had one thing in common – fear.

They fear being judged for not becoming pregnant quickly enough, and they constantly worry that when they do conceive, they’re not doing the right thing for the baby – both during and after pregnancy. They may feel unsupported and unprepared, and they aren’t being heard by traditional medical practitioners.

At the same time, they want to have a great birthing and postpartum experience. They want to feel empowered in their decision-making, and they want to advocate for themselves.

That’s the difference in working with someone like me and The Labor Room – we make sure you’re seen and heard on your journey, and that each of your concerns are addressed in a safe and nurturing space that prepares you sufficiently for birth and motherhood.
